Ryan Bingham's voice puts the country in country music
Ryan Bingham & the Dead Horses
Roadhouse Sun
**** (4 OUT OF 4 STARS)
Dusty, rolling twang, beer-sozzled lyrics and that voice:
Soulful alt-country troubadour Ryan Bingham’s burlap-scratch
tenor hasn’t been polished a lick for the Marc Ford-produced
Roadhouse Sun, his third studio album. Devotees of bone-weary
singer/songwriters like Townes Van Zandt and Steve Earle will
swoon as Bingham leans into tough-luck gems like Dylan’s Hard
Rain and Country Roads. This is the sort of country music that
makes preening posers like Rascal Flatts weep envious tears.
