5 STARS for Little Honey
Pardon the warped analogy, but if last year’s West was Williams’ Blood on the Tracks, then Little Honey is her Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan, a largely ebullient record unbound by anything other than the artist’s enthusiasm for life and, by extension, these terrific songs. (Her recent engagement to manager Tom Overby probably didn’t hurt either.) There are still traces of melancholy — If Wishes Were Horses is a wondrously shambolic lament — but Williams is clearly revitalized, having fashioned her most consistent, compelling disc in a decade.
